Sketching can help us to construct the whole process of thinking to get results. Starting with the action, we can record it by sketching, just like drawing a mind map, marking many key points and separating them.
Using numerical symbols, we can construct spaces, we can generate images, and for programming, this is part of the system. Like a vending machine, which can be programmed with intelligent controls but occasionally goes wrong, the whole digital information system can be controlled by the user, and through the controls the user can buy what he or she wants. The interaction between the user and the vending machine system takes place at the moment the button is pressed. The vending machine receives the instructions and begins to perform intelligent operations through data messages, thus fulfilling the user’s instructions. That’s the power of numbers. It also has guided functions, such as maps. The interaction is designed to build each information map so that the user can have better access to their needs. At the same time, it gives the user a great deal of help. My understanding of the whole process is that concepts are formed through numerical symbols, which then form the system or commands. The system has a clear objective for the user. When the user gives instructions through interactive actions, the system will complete the internal operations and give feedback to the user.
Visual thinking can give us the emotional arousal that leads to the desired thoughts. We need to learn to deal with numbers, symbols, elements of thought, so that it transforms into a better way to form a more valuable visual image presentation. Just like Android represents a system, when we see this icon, we know what it is, what benefits it brings to us, what value it has. This is the function of the visualization of symbolic information, and the vending machine is also the final output of symbolic information to the system and visual materialization. When you see a vending machine, your visual mind will understand what it does, what it is used for, and what it can bring. And this big vending machine button, like a visual impulse, makes people want to push it. This is a process from numbers to visual images, and it is also a process that produces the interactive behavior of two things. Therefore, the process of construction needs to constantly transform information into vision and build layer by layer to form the final goal.
Finally, the visual output of physical objects, trying to think of it as a medium, because it is an interactive behavior, is not only a tool, like computers, people use it to generate interaction behavior, is like a piano, people use it to produce music is interaction behavior, we can take the computer and the piano as a tool, but there is no denying that they also is a kind of medium of communication. When we build a camera, all the systems and parts are tools, and building a camera is a medium. When we take a picture with a camera, the camera is the tool we use to produce the picture, and the picture becomes a medium. When we show the photos to our friends, the project becomes a tool and their reaction becomes the communication medium we want. We should focus on how the whole system or process works, the connections between them, better together to produce the concept we want.
